AIR QUALITY INSPECTOR I

An Air Quality Inspector I is responsible for inspecting air pollution sources to ensure compliance with SDAPCD rules, EPA laws, and State of California laws. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form, ability to be customer-focused and teamwork-oriented, and possess the drive to excel.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in chemistry, physics, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, biology or a closely related scientific field; OR;

2. Four (4) years of paid professional, para-professional, or technical work experience with a regulatory agency, environmental agency, environmental consulting company, or other closely related agency, company, or organization; OR;

3. An equivalent combination of college education and/or experience as stated above.

Job Summary

The Facilities and Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the site readiness of all aspects of building infrastructure and process equipment in order to ensure a safe and functional workplace for all colleagues at the Carlsbad EMD Electronics site.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

Responsible for leading the following teams at the site: Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical and Instrument, Facilities, Maintenance Engineering, Project Management and Site Security.
Foster a collaborative and high impact work culture through coaching, guidance, and support to teams.
Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback to team members.

Facilities and Maintenance Oversight:

Applies knowledge of security, safety and environmental processes, practices, and regulations to maintain a safe and compliant site.
Utilize concepts of engineering, quality and lean six sigma to drive departmental efficiencies and value creation.
Manage service provider activities and contract administration including scope development and bid evaluation.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work collaboratively across teams and functions at the site (and external to the site) to ensure all internal customer expectations from a facilities and maintenance perspective are met or exceeded.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical or mechanical) or related field (facilities, industrial or maintenance management). Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
3 + years’ experience in a managerial role leading first line supervisors and their employees.
5+ years’ experience in an operations, industrial or manufacturing environment.

Job Summary

As Manager, Safety, Health, and Environmental Compliance, you will deploy EHS strategies that will enable success, promote continuous improvement, and keep us compliant with local, state, and federal safety guidelines. We’ll rely on you to build and maintain positive working relationships within and outside the organization, including with our parent company and at the divisional, agency, plant management, supervisor, and hourly employee levels.

Responsibilities:

Can you drive EHS best practices? You will develop and administer EHS management programs to maintain compliance with OSHA requirements and multi-media environmental regulations and permitting, to include air, water, waste, hazardous materials, energy, resource conservation, recycling, and more. This role goes beyond regulatory compliance; you will work closely with EHS and site leaders to level up our EHS capabilities and build partnerships across the organization.

Can you deliver data excellence? You will capture, track, monitor and manage EHS data effectively and prepare agency reports as required, ensuring timely submission of both internal and external reports. We are looking for a candidate who can both manage the big picture and know when to dive into the details.

Are you an effective communicator? We’ll look to you to drive an engaged EHS culture by providing direction for leadership and the rest of the workforce in areas such as training, root cause analysis, best practice implementation, and continuous improvement. You will play a critical role in driving a pro-active safety culture by engaging with employees to take ownership of our EHS programs.

Are you organized and detail-oriented? You will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating audits and inspections as well as the associated data management, recordkeeping, and communications to ensure compliance with facility and EHS regulatory requirements. Further, you’ll assist management with investigations, provide corrective and/or preventive measure recommendations, and maintain accurate environmental and injury/illness records.

Are you an EHS compliance expert? You will be expected to maintain working knowledge of current EHS regulations and laws so that you can provide expertise for EHS assessments, projects, and general EHS-related problem-solving.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish required, including ability to write and speak effectively in both languages.
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/engineering, occupational/industrial safety and health or related field required. Other four-year degree will be considered with relevant experience.
5 years’ related work experience leading/managing EHS programs.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Experience working with regulatory agencies including OSHA, EPA, DEH, APCD, Water Board, EIA, etc. preferred.

Office Intern 

 

Description

The Office Intern assists with general office and marketing activities as determined and directed by the Program Coordinator. Office responsibilities may include, but not limited to, data entry, research, filing and event coordination. Additionally, the Office Intern will assist and work with other staff as required. This is currently a remote internship until otherwise specified.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide support to IEA staff with various tasks as required
  • Design email campaigns, social media posts, flyers, etc.
  • Edit the organization’s website and create blog posts
  • Assist with implementation of software platforms such as Salesforce.org and Whova
  • Research and summarize environmental policies and proofread documents
  • Administer calls and emails
  • Aid in the planning of the Annual Environmental Conference (500 attendees) and the Vernon Environmental Conference (200 attendees) in October and July, respectively

Requirements

  • Must have a high school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program to receive credit
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction and adapt to change
  • Must work 4-8 hours per week during office business hours
  • Must be available for a minimum of three months
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint experience a plus
