Discussions Regarding AB 423 and the Proposed Overhaul of the Air District Board

I began meetings today with Assemblymember Gloria’s staff to discuss IEA’s concerns regarding AB 423 and the proposed overhaul of the Air District Board.  The Board would be expanded from 5 members (the current five elected County Supervisors) to 11 members which would include 2 County Supervisors, six elected officials from cities within San Diego County on a rotating basis, and three public seats which would include a medical expert, an environmental justice representative, and an expert on air pollution.  IEA questioned eligibility for any employees of the EHC, since that organization is the beneficiary of $500,000 in grant funding from CARB, and EHC’s President sits on the CARB Board.  We think that would exasperate an already existing conflict of interest
